DIE FROHE BOTSCHAFT

Embassies and diplomatic agencies open their doors to Berlin and Brandenburg’s school classes

Since 1990 the BERLINER MÄRCHENTAGE open doors and hearts to foreign cultures and encourage international understanding as well as cultural education of children and teenagers. Within the context of the fairy tale festival MÄRCHENLAND presents one region of the world each year. Thanks to that is the public interest in the respective countries traditions, way of life and stories of that country awaken.

For this reason MÄRCHENLAND – Deutsches Zentrum für Märchenkultur (Fairy Tale Land – German Centre for Fairy Tale Culture) initiated in 2009 a series of events never known before: Frohe Botschaft the embassies and diplomatic agencies located in Berlin open their doors to Berlin and Brandenburg’s school classes.

Members of the embassies or artists of the respective country take an hour of their time to present specific characteristics of their country to the pupils. The school classes get to know the historical development of the country as well as how people live in that specific region of the world.

Typical fairy tales and narrations of the respective country are also part of the event, for the legends and fairy tales of a nation are always closely connected to its culture and self-understanding.
